Awani is an Ascend Technologies Infrastructure Application Engineer focused on Virtual Applications/Desktop, Active Directory, Device Management/Imaging and Cloud services. He shared what it means to be part of a team.

What is your favorite sports team?

Chicago Bears and Blackhawks.

What sports have you played?

I enjoy playing soccer.

What do you remember being the most valuable lesson or quote from a coach or someone that supported your team sport?

“Success isn’t permanent and failure isn’t fatal.”

– Mike Ditka, Chicago Bears

What do you like the most about being part of the Ascend team?

I like working with my team/co-workers to find solutions to our client’s technical issues. The camaraderie that we have makes it very easy for anyone to adapt into our environment and contribute to our overall success.

How do you relate the team experiences you have had to the way your team functions at Ascend? How have the experiences supported your success at Ascend and in your boarder career?

From my experiences, every successful team must have all their team members focused on the same goal and playing their role to the best of their ability. With Ascend, I know that all of us are focused on utilizing our technical skills to better serve our clients. We also help each other learn new things and grow our technical skills to help our career. I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to start working with this team after college and have grown a lot personally and professionally since then.

What is your favorite team slogan, cheer or theme? How do bring this into your daily life?

“Bear Down”:

Not sure if I am using it right but I see this slogan as striving harder to achieve one’s goal. I am always looking to grow my professional and technical skills. Nothing is ever handed out and you always need to try your best to learn new skills and get better every day. My goal is to bring this into daily life by ensuring that I put 110% into everything I do.
